Socialization is a term used by sociologists, social psychologists, anthropologists, political scientists educationalists and in recent years, responsible breeders which refer to the process of inheriting and disseminating norms, customs and ideologies. It may provide the individual with the skills and habits necessary for participating within their own society; a society develops a culture through a plurality of shared norms, customs, values, traditions, social roles, symbols and languages. Socialization is thus ‘the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained’.

Pit Bulls are inherently known as the ''Gladiators of the Canine World'', this is due to select breeding in which this breed was traditionally produced for dominating in the old world sport on dog fighting. Without going into the nature of this ''so called sport'', the main issue is how to raise and teach your pup/dog to suppress his natural instincts or will to fight.
